To Sleep, Perchance to Scream [Site News]

Traffic around here has spiked since Sunday, 7000 visits and counting. The norm for one week is less than 500.

The flock arrived to watch the music video for Gary Jules’ Mad World.

It’s likely that this ad for Gears of War has people searching for the string “the dreams in which I’m dying”, part of the title for my post containing the video.

Stat Attack [Site News]

Stats as of 27 Sept. 2006

The above SparkLines illustrate the posting activity on this blog since it began on August 18, 2002.

2003 was my “year of the blog”. ;)

These images are generated live via some custom Javascript on the archives page.
(Developed using Firefox. IE support is iffy. If you want to see the code, dig around.)

Dazzle’s stats are available too.

Some love:

Nerdcore [Music]

In a Way (a track I put together at Glutton University) will be featured on the upcoming Nerdcore compilation CD.

Off the hoozak.

BeeBytes [Site News]

The power is (temporarily?) up. I’m sweating and the sun has been down for hours.

Before I left Amsterdam, I started work on a new website. It’s called BeeBytes, and will be devoted to interpreted programming languages like Ruby, Processing, and JavaScript. Right now, it’s just a collection of links, but that will change once I return to Canada this fall/winter.

Little Indiscretions [Site News]

StructuredThought, has been restructured as a WikiWikiWeb.

Unlike blogs, which are linear expression mediums (posts are displayed in chronological order, time/date stamped, and sorted by day/month/year), a WikiWikiWeb will allow me to grow the site not only in content, but in complexity.

I'll be exploiting JeremyRuston's TiddlyWiki to solidify and explore thought, through pattern, language, and connections:

A TiddlyWiki is like a blog because it's divided up into neat little chunks, but it encourages you to read it by hyperlinking rather than sequentially[...] I think that TiddlyWiki represents a novel medium for writing, and will promote it's own distinctive WritingStyle.

WikiFact: Wiki software originated in the design pattern community as a way of writing and discussing PatternLanguages

There is no point to this project beyond the indexing of fanciful ideas.

KnowBug: Certain versions of IE won't render images in TiddlyWiki. So GetWithTheProgram. ;)

Who me? [Site News]

Alive and well in sunny Amsterdam. (Sunny Amsterdam -> Oxymoron?)

I'm working on a new look-and-feel for structured thought, my poetry and prose blog, and I have some Proce55ing sketches in the works. Also under development: blogs for my sister and mother.

Shannon bought herself a Minolta Maxxum 50. As far as low-cost auto-focusing SLRs go, it's dope.

We have some friends in town. Why don't you plan a visit too? :)

New Beginnings [Site News]

A new look, for a journey that began nearly two years ago.

Along with the new look-and-feel, I switched the blog back-end from Blogger to Movable Type 3.0.

The inspiration for the design, came from the striking cover of the 1959 edition, of Ruth Benedict's Patterns of Culture.

For more information about the re-design, visit the About page.

I recommend exploring the updated Photography, Programs, and Words sections.

If you notice anything strange/broken, leave a comment.
